Measurable Impact

Annual Energy Generation (Solar PV)

  • Over 2,300 MWh of clean electricity produced annually, meeting the full daytime energy needs of the ALKU campus.

  • Achieved through a 1.7 MW solar power system installed on building rooftops and parking areas.

CO₂ Emissions Prevented

  • The project has prevented 1,168.64 tons of CO₂ emissions per year.

  • This is equivalent to saving approximately 950 tons of coal annually, directly supporting Türkiye’s climate goals.

Compost and Pet Food Quantities

  • Recovered 22 tons of cafeteria food waste in one year.

  • Produced:

    • 9 tons of organic compost used in campus green areas.

    • 2 tons of pet food donated to local animal shelters and used on campus.

Number of Beneficiaries and Trainees

  • More than 1,000 participants engaged through climate education, campus workshops, and technical trainings.

  • Includes students, academic staff, SMEs, and individuals with disabilities.

  • Developed an in-house green ambassador network across units.

Participating Departments and Units

  • Project integrated into 10 faculties,2 vocational schools and administrative units, including Engineering, Agriculture, Health Sciences, and Facility Management.

Collaboration across academic, administrative, and sustainability coordination offices ensured system-wide involvement.
